What’s happened to the website?

Unless you always read via RSS, you’ve probably noticed that this site’s changed a bit in the last few days. It has a new style, new layout and even a pretentious/over-complex new name: fulminate // Architectures of Control. Why have I done this?

Cry from the wilderness

Apologies for the hiatus in posting (and responding to comments & e-mails); I’ve had a couple of extremely important projects on which have taken longer than anticipated. Thanks to everyone who has been in touch; normal (better than normal, in fact) service will be resumed soon. The blog should be improving, expanding (in a way) and looking better in the near future.

P.S. While I’m messing round with the site, including tweaking the new theme, some things may not work, or may look ugly. Please bear with me, and come back in a few days’ time.

How do I fix this?

Technorati

How do I fix this? It’s been like this for over 3 weeks now (the “22 days”) and is clearly a problem that many bloggers are having. I’ve submitted a ‘link count error’ ticket and tried various things but to no avail, yet.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who’s got in touch over the last few weeks with examples and interesting angles on the areas discussed on this site, and my apologies for having not yet replied to everyone. The response to the sudden increase in eyeballs and linkage (even if Technorati’s record/rating of this site seems to be somewhat broken!) thanks to a plasticbag.org > Things magazine > Metafilter + Kottke + Design Observer + Resarch + Joshua Schachter + many others link-chain has been fantastic, and much appreciated.

An important (and fascinating) potentially long-term lightweight transport design project has also been gathering pace for me recently so time spent blogging here’s been reduced a bit, but rest assured I’ll get round to posting many fascinating examples and some great insights from readers over the next week or so, as well as a couple of book reviews.

[off-topic] Self-referential search results

I don’t normally do ‘off-topic’ posts - in fact this is the first - but I just re-read the earlier post ‘Nice attitude‘ and clicked on the link ‘device to stop young people congregating‘ in the post, which links to an Orange search page which initially referred a visitor to this site.

More self-regarding nonsense

Architectures of Control in Design is in the Technorati top 100,000 for the first time.

I know that’s not exactly spectacular, but it’s satisfying, and pleasing, to know that more people are coming across the site and finding it interesting enought to link to! Thanks to everyone who links to us, and indeed everyone who reads and comments.

Cheers!
